Layin' Down Some Guitar

I'm currently working on recording my originals with @angelocaputo at @sanctumsound in Los Angeles. We got the guitar track down. Vocals will be next. Here are a few pics from the night.

This is the room that Angelo recorded me in on guitar. Sanctum Sound is an absolutely stellar studio. Check 'em out in both LA and Boston.

The board all lit up!

The $4000 Taylor guitar I got to record with...just a slight upgrade from my $250 Alvarez. The sound on this baby is amazing. So much fun to play, even though...

My fingers were near bleeding by the end of the night...you could say that I'm out of guitar shape! Playing for over 6 hours is physically tasking.

Looking forward to adding vocals. I'll be sure to post the finished song as soon as its ready to share!

Michael Jackson

I grew up watching Michael Jackson's music videos on MTV at my grandparents house back in the day. Always tried to dance like him, but could never quite get it. It's a sad story how he turned out later in life, but his contributions to the music/entertainment world are amazing and he's created many classics. My favorite song and music video of his is Billie Jean.

What's your favorite MJ song or music video? Share it here on the Dealio.

Progressive Field & the Birds

Let's start off with the people around us. I really liked this guy's jean shorts. He was coaching the first baseman. Notice his use of a rolled up program as a megaphone. Brilliant!

What a gorgeous skyline of downtown Cleveland.

Very scary.

Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks...

It was cloudy, but the rain held off! We were more worried about bird droppings falling on our heads than rain drops.

It's been a few years since I went to a pro baseball game. I consider myself quite lucky that I was there first hand to see the Indians beat Kansas City because of seagulls in the outfield.

The girls + 1 lucky dude! A big thanks to Rhett and Jim for the tickets! You guys are awesome!!!

Trying to be artsy with my photography skills.

I love all 3 of the facial expressions in this photo. Very proud of this one! I hope they are, too.

The bride to be after getting hit with a foul ball!

The DUDE with the ice cream cone in the background is the guy who stole the foul ball from Jen after it hit her wrist. We tried to pressure him to give it back to us, but he was not willing to negotiate whatsoever. It landed in her seat and he was all over it like his tongue is on that ice cream. Com'on guy. She was getting married the next weekend! Boo!

Attack of the seagulls. They are out of control! I was told Cleveland has now hired a bird doctor to figure out why they've gotten so crazy lately.

I'm not sure why the mascot was so violent with me...seriously!

Where'd I go?

The cops came down to bust some kids for underage drinking. This was such an eventful game! What's the best baseball game you've ever been to? Share it here on the Dealio!

17+ Acres of Gorgeous: Schedel Gardens

Literally in the middle of corn fields, Schedel Gardens in Elmore, Ohio will blow you away. This was the site of my best friend's wedding reception and it was absolutely gorgeous. If you're ever in the area, it's worth stopping by. Here's just a couple pictures from the Japanese gardens.

Making Paper

After tying ribbons on 200 bubble wands, Chicken Ass wanted to make handmade paper with flower seeds in it for party favors. Here's what the process looks like...

We used a paper shredder to shred up scraps of paper Jen used for her wedding invitations and then cut them again with scissors into small pieces. Since her colors are green and purple, we used this mix, plus white, to get a nice variety of light to dark purples with flecks of white & green.

Jen borrowed screens from a friend, but you could make these at home, as well. Just 4 pieces of wood and a screen you can get from any hardware store.

Put the cut up paper in the blender and add enough water so all the paper is wet. Now blend. It should have a nice, thick consistency. Add more water as you go if necessary.

Once blended, pour the mix onto the screens over a sink or tub and then press the access water out with a sponge or your hands. Careful - this can stain your clothes/towels. This is also the time to add the flower seeds in so you can distribute them as evenly as possible.

Leave the paper out to dry for about a night or two. We discovered that taking the paper off the screens and putting them out on a table with a fan blowing on them worked faster. Picture of the finished product on the way!

San Marco Grocery & Lunch Counter

Alright Toledoans. I've been introduced to a little place I think you should all try out sometime. On Broadway near the Hi-Level bridge there is a little Mexican grocery store called San Marco. Go inside, pass all the cool imports and groceries, and take a seat at their lunch counter. You will have a fabulous Mexican meal for dirt cheap. Spread the word.

After lunch, why don't you pick up some cool gear and fresh produce or meat from the carniceria? San Marco is super authentic and delicious.

The lunch counter. We all tried the vegetarian quesadillas. So, so good. And only $3.50!

It ain't fancy. But it's yummy, clean, and affordable. For me - that's all that matters!

Three very satisfied customers: Me (straight from the salon), Nadia, and Jen. Be sure to try the horchata, which is an icy, cool refreshing cinnamon infused rice milk - it's worth stopping by just for that!

Chewy for Chewbacca

I miss having a dog. Luckily, Jen's mom has 4 of them to appease me during my Ohio visit. Below is Chewy, short for Chewbacca. He woke me up the morning after the bachelorette party to snuggle with me on the couch. So cute!

The Bachelorette Party

Seven lucky ladies and a doll of a man named Brad got into Bob's limo to cruise over and take the Jet Express to Put 'n Bay Island for Chicken Ass's bachelorette party. Here are a few highlights of the day/night...

Sarah, Peggy, Bride 2 Be, Brad, Me, Morgan,
Kelly, and Sara ready to paint the town!

"Sexy Little Bride"

Best friends since '91!

The girls & Brad with Rhett at Mr. Ed's!
This place is awesome!
They just opened an amazing pool area called Mist
that you must check out when you go this summer!

One of Chicken Ass's dares was to pluck
a chest hair off a man. Success!

And that does it for appropriate pictures from the night. Enjoy.

WTF?

Ok, this just made my day. If you're in Chicago, please ride with this guy and send me the photos/video. Really? White pants? Snake skin boots? No shirt? GUITAR? Gold? I want to know who has actually hired this man...FERRARI GUY FOR HIRE.

The best part is he lists weddings as a time to hire him, yet he can only have one passenger. So, what? The groom or bride is gonna show up to the church with this guy? Deal breaker.

Sushi & Crystal Pier

The day before the Rock n' Roll Marathon, Canole, Tony, and I enjoyed the cloudy & misty San Diego day out and about near the coastline. The picture below was taken on Crytal Pier, which I had never heard about before last Saturday. You can litterally sleep "over the ocean" in these adorable little white and blue cottages. Definitely a cool alternative to a traditional hotel room. You'll need advance planning if you want to stay there, though, so check out their site ASAP!

We had amazing sushi for the lowest price I've ever seen and it was honestly delicious. It was also the first time I saw sushi floating around on little boats. At first I thought they were other peoples orders, but soon learned you just grab what looks good to you...kind of the sushi version of a buffet table. Of course, I had to order my favorite salmon sashimi. I pretty much get that every time I go out for sushi. Check out Kabuki Sushi next time you're in the area and ask Charlie for the "Cinderella Roll" - it's not on the menu, but will knock your socks off!

Filled with sushi & ready for some frozen yogurt! Where are your favorite places to go in San Diego? Share them here on the Dealio!

Elvi

The Rock n' Roll Marathon is probably the most fun marathon you'll ever be a part of...it's not every day you see multiple people dressed as Elvis running 26.2 miles. I'll just tell you that their jump suits were already soakin' wet in this photo and they were only dancing around the San Diego convention center.

Who or what would you dress up as for a marathon?
